WebJun 12, 2012 · I have found synthetic oil to be a bit more noisy in the valvetrain area but not bad enough to switch back to dino. I would not use a motor oil syn or dino in the primary or tranny. I use Redline designed for primary, tranny and crankcase specific. Three different oils in three different holes. WebEvery M8 I've ridden has had a very high pitched ticking noise. It almost sounds like high tension lines, out an old car radio with spark plug interference. Riding with a really quiet helmet and ear plugs just stops the other sounds and makes this buzz even more irritating. Anybody else hear it, or have any ideas how to not get driven insane by it? This motor did not exhibit the noises that I am complaining about when I bought it last year. HD's whole marketing ploy was how much quieter the M8 was and it was true when I bought the bike. WebJul 17, 2024 · With the M8's you can run the test with or without the ACR (Automatic Compression Releases) on. We had the air cleaner off and we propped open the throttle valve as indicated in the HD service manual. With the ACRs ON (plugged in), minimum compression is 90 psi.
