WebThe climate of the Earth is strongly influenced by the surface ocean currents. Toward the equator, more direct sun energy is received than near the poles. However, because heat is transported from lower latitudes near the equator to higher latitudes near the poles by ocean currents and winds, these places do not continue to warm.
